Excavations in Paderborn I - Ausgrabungen in Paderborn I

Paderborn Kötterhagen
In Paderborn four properties were examined, on which medieval basements are found. All houses are situated in a former quarry, in which bishop Meinwerk break limestones in the 11. Century. This stones are used for his large building-projects like the new building of the cathedral, the pfalz, his bishops palace and the new wall around the cathedral castle.

Paderborn-Kötterhagen
In Paderborn wurden vier Grundstücke untersucht, auf denen mittelalterliche Fundamente erhalten waren. Alle Häuser liegen in einem ehemaligen Steinbruch, in dem noch Bischof Meinwerk im 11. Jahrhundert die Kalksteine für seine großen Bauprojekte brechen ließ: den Neubau des Doms und der Pfalz, seinen Bischofspalast und die neue Mauer um die Domburg.
